Minutes of the Meeting of the Officers and Delegates
1. The meeting of the Officers and Official Delegates was held at Northern Lancaster Beagle Club on Saturday, June 12, 2004. It was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by President, Gary Slick. The attached shows all that were present at this meeting.
2. The minutes of the meeting held at Dunnstown Firehall on Saturday, January 17, 2004 were read. MOTION to accept the minutes as read, made by Tina Grim, 2nd by Howard Snyder. Approved.
3. Officers Reports:
A. President: Gary Slick thanked everyone - officers for their hard work - N. Lancaster for all their help - and the delegates for driving so far. Your organization tell us where we should go and do.
B. E. Region V. P.: Scott Dennis thanked N. Lancaster for meals, marshals, grounds in excellent shape. Purina has been helpful. Apprentice program going to continue. Gander Mt. haven’t heard anything from them, need to find another sponsor.
C. W. Region V. P.: Glenn Spath pointed out that one of the qualifiers can be a Purina trial, just advertise it as such. Can also be a Purina trial inconjunction with other qualifiers.
D. Secretary: thanked everyone for coming and for cooperating with necessary changes.
E. Treasurer’ Report: Dave Sharer gave his report, which is attached. MOTION to accept the treasurer’s report as read, made by Cathy Stewart, 2nd by Tina Grim. Approved.
Bill to be paid: trophies - 44 @ $505.00. MOTION made to pay the bill for trophies, made by Howard Snyder, 2nd by Cathy Stewart. Approved.
F. Director of Communication: Tina Grim reported that communications is the key to success. Please proof read everything that is sent to her. Deadline for directories is November. Communications is a two way street. Surveyed everyone present to see what magazines to advertise in H & H and the new Hound Work or Hound Work and Better Beagling.
4. Committee Reports:
A. Purina: Tina Grim introduced Ed Wiley to everyone. He represents Purina. He said that Purina is very excited about being associated with the PBGA AKC National Qualifier must be advertised as such. If it is not advertised it will not count as Purina points. Can be combined class. Contact guy is Mike. No prizes to post office boxes, rural routes are ok. Every club can have a qualifier. Only will sponsor the license trials with dog food or the AKC National qualifiers. Info is on webpage.
Scott Dennis mentioned that 25 people from the PBGA were at the AKC National trial. Gary Slick thanked Purina for being here.
B. Political Action: Jim McWilliams reported that the name should be political awareness. Will keep us inform. Gary thanked Jim for taking this.
C. Show Seminars: Cathy Stewart reported that there were 2 seminars this summer. One at Carlisle Beagle Club and the other at Conemaugh. They were will received and everyone passed the test. Webster may be interested in a seminar.
D. Hall of Fame Exhibit: Gary mentioned Butch Travelpiece started the wall. Need a few pictures to get started.
E. NEBGF - John Gibble was elected President. Federation needs more organization and communications. Partnership with PBGA. All clubs requested to send a delegate.
F. BAC - John Gibble reported that on the agenda were (1) 2 couple pack format, there is no concrete rules from AKC. (2) Allowing 2 clubs to hold SPO trials if you choose. (3) Any hound under 2 years of age is considered a derby.
G. Banquet: Tina Grim reported that the next banquet will be held on January 15, 2005 at Dunnstown Firehall. Hope to see everyone there.
H. Website: PBGA tool for communications. Look there for the trials dates. All changes will appear there.
5. OLD BUSINESS
A. Trail Schedule: Glenn Spath reported that he was business changing everything from Derby to All Age. If any clubs need to change their schedule, please email or call on his cell phone. Schedule for 2005 due out in July or August. Glenn’s Cell Phone #724-840- 2388.
B. Tri-Tronics: Rick Merkel thanked Tri-Tronics for working with us. Told everyone that they could upgrade old collars. The collars are charging better, more compact and have multiple lines.
C. Consistency Award: Scott Dennis reported that it is about incentive, to bring people in to your club. You can find out where you stand on the website. Thanks to Purina and the PBGA for the guns. Two hounds scored over 30 points in the derby. Shows that people are traveling.
D. Hall of Fame Nominations: Gary Slick reported that he received nominations on 3 people and 2 dogs. The 5 directors are to be the committee with Tina Grim to head. Nominations for Cathy Stewart, Roger George and Scott Dennis. Hounds were: FC Tascora Danny Boy and R. Cole Nikki.
E. PA Sportsmen: Virginia Conrad did not have anything to report as this time.
6. NEW BUSINESS
A. Host Club for 2005 Derby Championship trial - Nominations: Rayburn (6 votes), Pucketos (3 votes) and Conemaugh (15 votes). See everyone there.
B. Sire/Dam award: discussion would help to promote breeder. MOTION FOR SIRE/DAM AWARD FOR ALL-AGE OR COMBINE DERBY AND ALL-AGE POINTS FOR SIRE/DAM, made by Gary DeFoor, 2nd by J. Yagieinskie. Approved.
C. Blanket Sanctioned came back approved by AKC. Secretary has copy to include in the minutes when mailed out.
D. Rick Roth, President of the NBC was reported to have passed away.
E. George Edwards: his family gave his AKC Championship awards to us. They will be placed on the wall with his name.
